Museum of Us by Sydney Wistuk from the album: For Laura

letthespiralunwind:

I broke both of my wrists and had to get surgery to put plates on the broken bones. 11 days after the breaks, and 4 days after surgery, I played a song that I wrote on the piano for a concert that my school has at the end of the year every year. The ending of the song is “Ink” by Coldplay. Excuse the mistakes I make on the piano, as I was playing with two broken bones.

Here are the lyrics:

Museum of Us - written and performed by Sydney Wistuk

I let you down, but at least I faced my biggest fear.

Honesty hasn’t been my best policy in these past few years.

I wish you could understand that I never meant to hurt no one.

I wish you could comprehend how strong I’ve become.

Here I am, so solid but oh so torn.

Here I am, so new but oh so worn.

I promise I - I’m gonna make things right.

If I don’t succeed, you better know that I died trying.

When people ask how I made it out alive, I’ll tell them the story of You and I,

And the Museum of Us.

When you’re holding me, it feels like home to me, and I never want to leave.

Through my darkest days, you lead the way, and now I can see.

I wish you could understand that I will be your hand to hold.

I wish you could comprehend how you’re the warmth when I’m cold.

Here I am, so short but standing tall.

Here I am, I’ve got the world in my palms.

I promise I - I’m gonna stand by your side.

If I leave, you better know it’s killing me inside.

When people ask how I made it out alive, I’ll tell them the story of You and I,

(And the Museum of Us)
